Makenna Karas

A writer living in New York City, documenting her experience of the world.
Holds a degree in English from Southern California, where she fell in love with editorial while writing for her college magazine, The Look. Inspired, she created her own digital publication and started writing for Musée Magazine.
There, she reviewed art exhibitions, published personal essays, and interviewed notable artists such as Abbey Drucker, Heji Shin, and Astrid Klein.
Since then, she has moved to NYC where she is now working full-time as an editor and copywriter. She’s also in the process of writing a book.
She’s particularly interested in exploring the thresholds of life—the in-between spaces where girlhood ends, adulthood begins, and the self is rewritten again and again. Her writing explores the texture of memory, weaving together art, nostalgia, and emotional clarity to examine what it means to grow up, look back, and try to understand the world from the inside out.
When she’s not glued to her keyboard, she can be found gallivanting around Brooklyn.
As for the blog?
Well, she probably shouldn’t be telling you half of what is on here, but she doesn’t really know how not to. And as for the other half, she hopes it offers some food for thought.
